Romania Grand Tour

Travel into Transylvania, Romania’s most renowned region. Visit Cozia Monastery, founded in the 14th century. Continue to Sibiu, considered one of the most beautiful medieval towns in Transylvania. Established by German Saxons in the 12th century, Sibiu has preserved its magnificent Old Town with colourful houses, spacious squares, and many legends. During the walking tour you will see the Grand and Little Squares, the Liar’s Bridge, the Brukenthal Palace, and the Evangelical Cathedral. Drive to Sibiel to tour the Museum of Glass Icons, meet local villagers, and enjoy a traditional dinner with wine and schnapps. Return to Sibiu for overnight. (B, D)

Head to Hunedoara to visit the Gothic Hunyadi Castle, built in the 14th century. Continue to Alba Iulia to see Transylvania’s largest Vauban fortress and its two outstanding cathedrals—the Catholic Cathedral and the Orthodox Cathedral. In the afternoon, visit the famous Turda Salt Mine. The day ends in Cluj Napoca, a multicultural and cosmopolitan city. (B)
