“Welcome to Romania!” Upon arrival in Bucharest, enjoy a panoramic sightseeing tour on the way to your hotel. Known as the “Little Paris of the East,” Bucharest captivates visitors with its wide boulevards, spacious squares, and centuries-old landmarks. During the tour, see the Arch of Triumph, Victory Avenue, Revolution Square, the impressive Palace of Parliament, the Patriarchal Church, and many other highlights. The day concludes with a welcome dinner at a local restaurant in the Old Town. (D)
Travel toward Sibiu through the spectacular Olt Valley. Along the way, visit the Orthodox Cozia Monastery. Around midday, arrive in Sibiu, considered one of the most beautiful medieval towns in Eastern Europe. Enjoy a guided walking tour of the charming Old Town, including the Small Square, the Grand Square, the Liar’s Bridge, Huet Square, and the Lutheran Church. In the evening, visit the second-largest Museum of Glass Icons in the world and enjoy a traditional dinner hosted by local families in the idyllic mountain village of Sibiel (optional). (B)
This morning, enjoy a scenic drive along the country roads of Transylvania, passing small Saxon villages with colorful houses and fortified churches. Stop in the village of Biertan to visit the largest fortified church in Transylvania. Continue to Sighisoara, a beautifully preserved medieval citadel listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. During the guided walking tour, visit the Clock Tower, the Church on the Hill, and the birthplace of Count Dracula. Later, continue to Brasov for overnight. (B)
After breakfast, drive to the village of Bran to visit the famous Dracula Castle. Built by German Saxons in the 14th century, the castle is today Romania’s most iconic attraction. Return to Brasov and enjoy a guided walking tour of the city, often referred to as the “Crown of Transylvania.” This 800-year-old town has preserved its medieval atmosphere and historic Old Town almost intact. Visit the Black Church, the largest Gothic church between Istanbul and Vienna. Enjoy free time at leisure in the evening. (B)
This morning, visit the elegant Peles Castle in Sinaia. Built at the end of the 19th century as the summer residence of the Romanian Royal Family, it was the most modern castle of its time, featuring elevators, central heating, and electricity. Continue south toward the sunny Dobrogea region and arrive in Tulcea, known as the “Gateway to the Danube Delta.” Overnight at the hotel. (B, D)
Today is dedicated to exploring the Danube Delta, included in UNESCO’s World Heritage List since 1990 and considered one of Europe’s wildest natural areas. The delta is home to more than 300 bird species and serves as a major migration hub for birds traveling to and from Mongolia, Siberia, India, Africa, and China. In the morning, visit the Museum of the Danube Delta, then continue the exploration by boat through protected natural reserves. Observe wildlife such as cormorants, egrets, swans, and pelicans. After enjoying a traditional local lunch, return to Tulcea. (B, L)
Enjoy a scenic drive to Constanta. Visit Ovid Square and the Folk Art Museum, which displays a rich collection of traditional Romanian crafts, including icons painted on wood and glass, ceramics, folk costumes, woven carpets, decorative textiles, wooden and metal household objects, peasant furniture, and agro-pastoral tools. Continue to Mamaia, the most popular resort on the Romanian Black Sea coast and enjoy free time at the beach. In the evening, return to Bucharest for overnight. (B)
