Welcome to Romania! Upon arrival at Otopeni International Airport, meet your local guide and transfer to your centrally located hotel. On the way, enjoy a panoramic introduction to the city, passing by the House of the Free Press, the Romanian Arch of Triumph, Victory Square, Roman Square, the Palace of the Parliament, and ending at University Square. Spend some leisure time exploring the Old Town at your own pace. Welcome dinner at a historic restaurant in the Old Town. (D)
Begin your day with a guided tour of Bucharest. Visit the Palace of the Parliament, the second-largest administrative building in the world, constructed under Nicolae Ceaușescu, and admire its preserved architecture, grand chandeliers, mirrors, secret passages, and impressive furnishings. Continue to the Romanian Athenaeum and discover its historical frescoes on the ceiling and remarkable wall paintings. Visit the National Village Museum and stroll among traditional houses, crafts, and folk costumes. Proceed to Cozia and visit the remarkable Cozia Monastery, noted for its stone-laced exterior and Byzantine interior paintings. Continue to Sibiu and check in at the hotel for a two-night stay. (B)

Enjoy a scenic drive through the countryside to the medieval town of Medias, a former German settlement. Visit St. Margaret’s Church, dating from the 15th century, with its 68-meter-high leaning tower, considered one of the top ten inclined towers in the world. Continue to the charming village of Biertan and visit its 15th-century fortified church, one of the largest in Transylvania and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Continue to Sighisoara and check in at the hotel. (B)
Begin the day with a tour of one of Europe’s best-preserved medieval towns. Founded by German settlers in the 13th century, Sighisoara remains one of the few inhabited medieval citadels in the world and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. During the walking tour, visit the Clock Tower, admire the birthplace of Dracula, and see the Church on the Hill. Enjoy some free time. Around midday, take a scenic drive to Viscri, a small Transylvanian village where time seems to stand still. Discover rural life by exploring this well-known Saxon village. Tour the village and enjoy a ride in a traditional horse-drawn carriage. Visit the UNESCO-listed 13th-century fortified church, built on the remains of a Roman basilica. Meet the locals and enjoy a traditional lunch with homemade dishes and wine. Continue to Brasov and check in at the hotel for a two-night stay. (B, L)
After breakfast, enjoy a tour of Brasov, another medieval gem of Transylvania. Visit the city’s landmark, the Black Church, with over 600 years of history, and continue to the Black Tower, White Tower, Ecaterina’s Gate, and Rope Street. Spend some free time in the Old Town. Continue to the village of Prejmer and visit the fortified church built by the Teutonic Knights in the early 13th century, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Inside the fortification, you will find 272 rooms—one for each village family—as well as a church completed in 1225 and a school. In the afternoon, enjoy a scenic drive to Bran, where you will visit the impressive Bran Castle, also known as “Dracula’s Castle,” one of the most famous landmarks in Eastern Europe. Built in the 14th century as a customs post between medieval Wallachia and Transylvania, it is now Romania’s most visited attraction. Return to Brasov. (B)
Travel to Sinaia and visit one of Europe’s most remarkable castles, Peles Castle, known as the summer residence of the Romanian royal family. The castle functions as a museum, preserving its original furniture, decorations, and artworks. Take a walk through the gardens and admire its Neo-Renaissance architecture. Also visit the Orthodox Sinaia Monastery, built in the 19th century by Prince Cantacuzino in Byzantine style, and view its collection of valuable objects, including the first Romanian translation of the Bible from the 17th century. Continue to Bucharest. In the evening, enjoy a traditional farewell dinner at a local restaurant, accompanied by folk music and wine. Overnight in Bucharest. (B, D)
